Megan's Tips

Here at Megadoodledogs, We breed Cocker Spaniel puppies and Beagle puppies.  Our goal as dog breeders is to have healthy, well socialized, top quality puppies.

Great Dog Treat Recipe that my dogs love:

  • 2 cups of unbleached wheat flour
  • 1 cup of cornmeal
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons of fresh chopped parsley
  • 3/4 of a cup of chicken broth
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Mix the flour, cornmeal, and salt in one bowl
  3. In a separate and larger bowl whip the egg with the oil, parsley, and chicken broth. add the flour mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough and roll it out into 1/2 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into fun shapes.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Cool treats before giving to your dogs

 

What a new puppy needs:

1. Collar

4. a brush or brushes depending on the kind of dog

5. a kennel, dog house or transport crate. If your dog is an inside dog it can use the transport crate as a sleeping place.

IMPORTANCE OF DOG TRAINING

I think it is very important to train your dog. If your dog is nicely trained you will have more fun with your dog. An untrained dog is usually all crazy and wild. It is very fun to train a dog, I have trained 2 of my dogs ,Samson and Levi, in 4-H. I brought them to compete in our county fair. At the fair Samson got Champion in Utility obedience, and 2nd in Senior Agility. Levi got Grand-Champion in Pre-Open Obedience and 3rd in Intermediate Agility. And at the Wisconsin state 4-H dog show on August 29th they both got first place. It is very fun and rewarding to show dogs. It can be hard remember to work with them daily, so that they don’t forget what they were taught.  This year I am hoping to have Samson get his UD title and I am also training Levi in Open obedience so that we can try for his CD and CDX.
